Every effort is made to render 1st aid treatment to wild birds of prey, with 24hr advice given for assistance and/or guidance. Wild, injured or rescued birds will receive veterinary treatment if required at Great Western Referrals www.gwreferrals.com and taken to
Hawk Conservancy www.hawk-conservancy.org in Andover, for rehabilitation.
Common Buzzard, picked up (July 2008), he suffered a broken leg, which we put into a splint, before taking it for specialist avarian care. We crop fed through a syringe for a couple of days then took him after a few weeks to the Hawk Conservancy, Andover. Unfortunately after 4 weeks of good progress, he died on 27th July 2008.
My thanks to the Great Western Referrals and Hawk Conservancy for their expertise and efforts.
Common Buzzard, I rescued near Lacock was entangled in barbed wire in March 2007. He was brought back to full health, with assistance from Hawk Conservancy, and successfully released in November 2007 where he was found.
Tawny Owl brought in to me by locals, who found it in the road. We gave it 1st aid and glucose and took it again to Hawk Conservancy. It was released as part of a tracking progamme they have introduced.
2 Tawny Owls found tangled in fishing line, rescued by locals in Melksham, 1 was unfortunately already dead , but the other released a week later in full health.
Tawny Owl 17th July 2008 made a full recovery and was released back where he was found. He had most likely been hit by a car and had minor cere ( part of beak) damage.
Tawny Owl 23rd August 2011 found in road most likely hit by car, being treated for a week, but sadly died. Most likely internal injuries.
DONATIONS GREATFULLY ACCEPTED TO COVER COSTS OF VET BILLS AND FUEL FOR THESE WILD BIRDS OF PREY.
